Default Mass PvE overload.

Hey. So I have a Paragon, which is like 330k/1.3m for Legendary survivor. I want to bring it to DoA to Imba for groups, but it requires more precision? If you will, to bring it there without dying, due to a few threats in select areas. What build should I run? Should I just run imbagon constantly to reduce group damage? I'm the type who likes to deal damage, so yeah. I'm at consulate docks, and haven't done anything in the campaign. Im running with a spear and shield of the forgotten, with centurion insignia's considering I'm always shouted. Any suggestions for builds or armor that I should be running or anything? I'm also going to be running in EoTN too. I'm getting kinda sleepy and can't write sentences properly in order anymore.

Questions or comments are appreciated. Leave 'em here :P

I apologize if this is breaking some rule in some way.

You won't get into a DoA team with anything but Imba: OQGjUimKKT0bxgAh1YXcpbwb4YA

Full centurions + shield swaps "Swift as the wind" and "I can see clearly now" These will help a lot with cripple and blind(especially in Foundry) You can also swap for zealous spear for City Of Torcqua HM which helps a lot with the -2 environment effect.

The generic http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:P/W_Imbagon should get you completion and Gate of Anguish easily enough.

I recommend you get whatever survivor title rank your aiming for before you attempt to do DoA runs. You will be in a group of actual players and you will have your survivor titles in their hands. Especially pugs die a lot and luckily UA is a very powerful res.

In DoA you won't get into any party as a paragon if your not running Save Yourself. This skill is very powerful however it makes the enemies focus fire on you because you will have the lowest defense. This can be very dangerous.

You should get survivor before going to DoA But if u insist on going to DoA, best thing for maximum safety in ur missions will be imba. u can worry about dmg dealing after you are legendary survivor

This. I guarantee some PUG moron (or untimely disconnect) will screw up your survivor if you take it to DoA. Go do some boxing or do Kathandrax runs on another char, get your survivor, then do DoA.

Not only do you need Save Yourself, but you need enough Kurzick / Luxon rank to make it effective.

Don't go to DoA if you want a survivor. Even Imba can be defeated by the frequent idiocity of PuGs.

If you are talking DwG teams, then yes you are probably correct, but there are guilds out there that don't use DwG because they know how to effectively be faster without speed clearing it.

Shield Swapping...? O.o Never once have I ever shield swapped for any reason on my paragon. Cripple should never be a reason to carry a shield specifically for it in PvE, sure it is annoying but you're never running a flag or trying to flank like in PvP . The blind I can understand though, a Rune of Clarity and said shield above cuts blindness by 40% so I recommend using either one, or both.

On topic: if you want Survivor, playing as an Imbagon is probably not your best bet. Giving allies, especially in Hard Mode, +100 armor basically begs the enemies to attack you, putting you at risk. I would first get Survivor, then go nuts doing whatever it was you were wanting to do .

Provide the paragon build if that's true.

First of all, thanks for the responses so far. Always good getting some insight from knowledgeable people. I probably didn't word myself correctly last night, I was running on little sleep. Sorry. Ill re-word it a bit better. I need to run through EotN and Nightfall first to get to DoA. Is there anything I should run while getting the necessary skills and titles, as well as beating the missions? I'm going to have a human friend (Monk) with me, so I was debating doing a few missions in Hard Mode for extra exp, or something. I will undoubtedly get Legendary before DoA from missions, skill caps, Hard Mode explorable areas to the next quest/mission etc, I'm not insane, hahaha. Should I run Imba for those too then? Like I earlier said, I do like to do damage, so.. Does the safety of Imba outweigh the damage produced by some other build for missions and such? I have extensive knowledge of each campaign (What not to do, what not to stand in), cause I've been playing GW for about 5 years.

If anything is unclear (its a possibility), let me know.

I am definitely correct and must point out that you totally misunderstood what I said:Few guilds will take pugs if they run balanced. And yes I am talking about both Glaiveway and frostway, neither of these team builds are a speedclear either.

I can see clearly now and Rune of Clarity are both musts.. Anti cripple is optional but tbh I never enter DoA without both runes and 20% less shield swap for a very good reason.

The only thing I would say is when going through EotN, Heart of the Shiverpeaks to be exact, don't go into the room with the giant wurm. I was 200k from Leg. Surv. and trying to be all manly like, playing though instead of endless brawling, and poof, I'm stuck at tier 2. This is the reason I have to clear Mount Quinkai 400 more times to get the Luxon title. I lost survivor and need a 30th title.

Right... My turn

Guilds that take a paragon are generally DwG teams or Frostway teams [both of these having a general set up of Imba UA HB DwG Panic/SoS {frostway having a ST}] This is the most common team for DoA and its fairly easy to get into a pug run [especially NM and clear DoA in an hour and a half.

The guilds that dont take DwG also wont take a paragon becasue the guilds that speedclear DoA dont need either a paragon or dwg becasue they use a caster spike. So that point is rather redundant. And Imo no one will clear DoA as effectively that a DwG team without a SC team.

Shield swapping in PvE isnt a good idea? A +10demons shield is very usefull if foes cant do cripple or blind. However if you are blind all the time what are you expecting to achieve. And if you cant keep up with the team, on what is a "fast clear" of DoA for most people then your slowing everyone down, stop being selfish and help others out!
Thats almost like saying, lets use a 40/40 fire set for a monk in DoA becasue it wont influence anything. If the paragon can look after itself in small ways it makes it easier on the monks. The monks having to do the job of healing people.

So we are now saying that equiptment is now useless in PvE.. Here is your starter shield and spear back go have fun.

For everyone that wants to imba more effectively using a blind reduction sheild helps becasue if you haven't already realised or experienced.. Paragons need to hit things to gain adrenaline.. and you know those shouts like SY, the ones needed to +100al to everyone.. need adrenaline.

If everyone has shouts up 100% of the time like is expected, then the healers [usually monks always in doa] can focus on keeping the team alive and have more energy if something goes wrong.

As for giving +100 armor to the rest of the team makes you a more likely target for foes. Yes. That is usually true. IF the Imba pulls.<Why do Imbas pull?

The DwGs and the Mesmer in a HM team are the most expendable members of the teams. If they die no one else is affected untill they are ressed. If the Imba dies on a pull then immediately the rest of the team has a time when shouts are down. Be that while the Imba is regaining Adr or if its becasue the imba is now dead.
